Pumpkins are probably one of my favorite vegetables because they are just so versatile.
They are delicious in savory pumpkin recipes, like my roasted pumpkin soup recipe with acorn squash, or sweet dishes, like my sourdough pumpkin roll.
Of course, this orange squash is also very popular added into lattes every autumn. And it is easy to see why.
Pumpkin puree, spices, and steamed milk are blended together and added to coffee to make the most perfect morning brew or afternoon pick me up.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
Perfect to welcome in the pumpkin season – Nothing says fall quite like classic pumpkin flavor and hot coffee.
Budget friendly – While it can be fun to enjoy a pumpkin spice latte from your favorite coffee shop, it can become quite pricey. Make it at home for a fraction of the cost and have control over the ingredients.
Easy to make your own – Want it to be sweeter? Add a little honey or maple syrup. Want more warm spice flavor, sprinkle in a little more pumpkin pie spice or add some additional cinnamon. Adjust it to your taste buds.
Pumpkin Spice Latte Ingredients
Real pumpkin puree – It is easy to roast your own pumpkin to make puree. You will typically want to use pie pumpkins for this. Of course, canned pumpkin puree works fine, too!
Sweetened condensed milk – You can easily make this at home with just milk and sugar. Learn how to make homemade sweetened condensed milk here.
Pumpkin pie spice – If you don’t have this on hand, you can make your own pumpkin pie spice by combining cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves.
Vanilla extract – Learn how to make your own homemade vanilla extract at home here.
Freshly pulled espresso or strong coffee – I use an espresso machine that I love! However, you can get a similar result using a French press.

Recipe Modifications: Iced Pumpkin Spice Lattes
If you prefer your pumpkin spice latte cold, on step 4, simply add ice and cold whole milk instead of steamed milk.
You could also use cold brew coffee as well. This homemade version is delicious hot or cold!

Step 4: Steam 6-8 ounces (3/4 to 1 cup) of milk or use a milk frother and pour into the mug and enjoy!

Recipe FAQ’s
Every pumpkin latte may vary slightly. This recipe includes sweetened condensed milk, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla extract, salt, espresso, and steamed milk.
You can always add a little maple syrup or honey if you prefer a sweeter latte. Brown sugar would also be delicious! I would suggest adding it to the pumpkin spice sauce.
Yes! Just replace the sweetened condensed milk and steamed milk with almond milk, coconut milk, or cashew milk. Be aware that this will make a thinner, not-as-rich latte. You will also need to add a little bit of sweetener. I prefer honey or maple syrup, but cane sugar will work just fine.
