The loveliest summertime treat, these orange creamsicle popsicles have only six ingredients and are blended up in a few minutes. They are so simple and so delicious.ย
It has come to that time of summer when the terrible heat becomes almost unbearable, and we start to wish for the cooler, enlivening temperatures of fall. I dream of the leaves starting to turn, but quickly realize that fall brings winter, and Iโm suddenly brought back to the joys of summer.
The all-day playing with the kids, letting them romp around, play in the sprinkler, spending days at the river, and enjoying an overall fun, carefree time … summer is sweet.
And when the heat starts to get to us, we simply pull out our favorite popsicle recipe and enjoy the cool, tasty treat. These orange cream popsicles literally couldnโt be easier. It takes about three minutes to pour the ingredients into the blender, and then we carefully fill the molds.
It starts with an โice creamโ base. Instead of using ice cream, I used the ingredients one would normally make ice cream with: cream, milk, vanilla, and honey. Then, the juice and zest of a fresh orange to really brighten up the flavor.
The hardest part is waiting for them to freeze solid. And with little hands, the wait is even longer.
Here’s a simple trick: make them in the morning, before the kids have made their way downstairs, so you can have them in the freezer for the afternoon surprise. Everyone will be ecstatic to taste these orange creamsicle popsicles.ย
Alternatively, this is also a great way to involve the kids. The recipe and steps are simple enough for the little ones, and just enough for the older ones to perhaps try taking the reins. It’s a sure win when it comes to building confidence, as it can hardly ever fail. The waiting, while not as fun, is a great lesson, as well. Especially with such a sweet reward in the end.
Tips For Making Orange Creamsicle popsicles:
- I use raw milk and cream for this recipe, since we have our own cow. Since most people donโt have a cow grazing in their backyard, or may not have a reliable source of raw milk, you can easily substitute raw milk with store-bought whole milk and heavy whipping cream.
- This was part of a popsicle making day, and since my other mold was in use, I used an old mold that was missing some of the popsicle sticks. So, after I poured the creamsicle mixture in, I covered the mold with parchment paper and stuck in wooden sticks.
- You could also try to make a lemon or lime version of this recipe. I would recommend using less lemon or lime juice, though, as it is more potent than orange juice.
- While fresh orange juice is preferred for a better flavor, you could substitute it for store-bought.

What’s the difference between a Creamsicle and a dreamsicle?
Often the terms are switched out. The main difference is that creamsicles are made with ice cream, while dreamsicles are usually made with ice milk. While this recipe isnโt made with ice cream, it starts with an ice cream โbase.โ Ice milk usually refers to a frozen dessert made with lower fat milk, instead of cream.

Do you think this recipe would work with 1% milk and 5% cream? I never buy whole milk or heavy cream.
So excited to see these on your blog. My husband is going to freak out…he’s obsessed with these! But now I can make them so much better ๐
I made these today for National creamsicle day and they are very delicious! Easy, refreshing and a great small treat – I made 2 oz. size mini-pops. I highly recommend. I now want to try vanilla bean and strawberry creamsicles too. Thanks Lisa ๐๐
