I share what we eat in a week to give you some healthy breakfast ideas for family. We like to keep our menu pretty simple and basic.

If you guys follow along very much with the farmhouse shenanigans, you know that I am not much of a planner. Be it meals, blog content, projects, you name it..I’m pretty much always just taking one step at a time.

Several months ago..shoot, it may have even been a year ago..I shared a post about how I get healthy meals on the table without planning. As a follow-up to that, I did a video where I showed what exactly we eat on this “plan”. It’s not a plan, but what the heck else do you call it? Anyway, you all seemed to love it for some reason.

So, now I’m back with the breakfast edition.

Healthy Breakfast Ideas for Family Video

Now, I realize this video probably makes us look pretty boring, but I like simplicity. I don’t mind eating the same things over and over, while throwing in whatever is seasonally available (or on sale) here and there.

Very Berry Kefir smoothie recipe ways to use kefir

More often than not we eat some kind of kefir smoothie, and some kind of eggs. I may switch out the fruits or throw some veggies in the eggs, but that is the basis. It has protein, probiotics, carbohydrates, fats..pretty much everything to start your day on the right foot!

Healthy Breakfast Ideas for Family

I found this recipe for sweet potato oatmeal bake several years ago, and it has kind of always stayed in the rotation. I like that the oatmeal is soaked overnight in kefir.ย This is a traditional method of preparation to neutralize phytic acid and make the oats more digestible. When my kids get sick of eggs and smoothies, this oatmeal bake is a welcome treat!

Saturdays are always sourdough pancake days. My father-in-law comes over because he says they are the best pancakes in the world. There really is nothing like sourdough. Get my sourdough pancake recipe HERE.

My favorite breakfast is a fruit smoothie. I add a protein powder, frozen berries and either spinach or kale. Every so often Iโ€™ll have Oatmeal or cold granola. That said, I made your Sourdough Pancakes andI have now added them into my mix. Before making your recipe I found that pancakes sat like a brick in my stomach. The Sourdough pancakes are so light and fluffy that the feeling of heaviness is not there. My husband who never cooks but will make his own pancakes on occasion has also fallen in love with your recipe. Thank you for all your yummy recipes. MY house has never smelled so good!!!!!!

Your breakfasts are super similar to what we do as well! Thanks for sharing my recipe – all these years later it’s still in rotation here too. ๐Ÿ™‚

I stumbled on your YouTube videos and am HOOKED on all of them. I too would love your lunch routine and stay at home mom daily schedule! My husband comes in for lunch, so Iโ€™m curious how you swing it. Love all your work! (I just started my sourdough starter.)

Hey Ashley! I am so glad to hear that. ๐Ÿ™‚ My husband comes in for lunch also, so I just make the same things I make for dinner. Meat and veggies on repeat. ๐Ÿ™‚ Enjoy your starter!

Loved this video! One of the reasons because I’m Dutch and we have a tradition of mostly eating bread/sandwiches for breakfast and lunch. So I’m always looking for easy recipes that take little time but make for more variety. Sooo, I would really like it if you would also do a lunch video.

Another idea: what is your day ‘schedule’? Like, what time do you get up, how do you get everything organized with your kids (and a little baby) etc. Your videos look so calm and stressless, what are your practical tips and tricks to maintain this in your busy household?

Looking forward to your next vlogs and blogs!

I have had so many requests for that video! Looks like I need to take the time to do a few. I hoping to soon! ๐Ÿ™‚
